Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup

This is the perfect recipe if you're feeling under the weather or need a little comfort. It's packed with health benefits that will help you feel better from the inside out.

Servings 6 servings


  • 1 Dutch Oven or Large Soup Pot


  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 large carrots peeled and sliced
  • 2 celery stalks sliced
  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste


  • In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the carrots and celery and continue to sauté for another 5 minutes.
  • Pour in the chicken broth, shredded chicken, thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 15-20 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
  • Add the egg noodles and cook until tender, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Remove the bay leaf and season the soup with additional salt and pepper, if needed.
  • Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with chopped parsley.


If you’re feeling under the weather, you can always add extra garlic and ginger for an added boost of immune-boosting power. 
You may need more time to prepare this dish if you need to cook the chicken and shred.
