As the cold winter months set in, there’s nothing like a hearty meal to warm you up and bring back memories of home. One of my favorite comfort foods is chicken pot pie, and it brings me back to my childhood days of cooking with my grandmother.

Growing up, my grandma was the one who initially introduced me to great cooking. I remember spending countless afternoons watching her collect ingredients, chop vegetables and mix everything together with ease. She always had a knack for making simple ingredients taste amazing.

My grandma would always let me help, whether stirring or measuring, even though I was probably more of a hindrance than a help. But those moments in the kitchen with her are some of my most cherished memories, and they always come flooding back when I make a homestyle dish like this.

Now that I’m a mother, cooking chicken pot pie with my own son means so much to me. It’s a way for me to carry on the tradition of cooking and to share a piece of me with him.

Whenever we cook together, I see a glimmer of excitement in his eyes as he measures out ingredients and stirs the filling. And when we sit down to enjoy the finished dish, I feel a sense of pride and joy in sharing something I love with someone I love.

Cooking with family is a way to connect, to create memories, and to pass down traditions. And for me, chicken pot pie will always be a dish that brings back fond memories of my grandma and the warmth and comfort of home.

There’s also something about the cold weather that makes me crave hearty, filling meals, and chicken pot pie definitely fits the bill. It’s warm, comforting, and can be customized with your favorite vegetables and seasonings. Plus, it’s a one-dish meal, which means less cleanup and more time to enjoy with family and friends.

Now, let’s get onto the recipe! This chicken pot pie is simple to make and can be customized to your liking.

I hope you enjoy and that it brings back a bit of nostalgia for you as well. Stay warm and enjoy!
